White House Chief of Staff to resign, run for Mayor of Chicago instead

Rahm Emanuel is set to visit Chicago neighborhoods to gauge voter reaction to a "possible" run for mayor.

Rahm Emanuel is expected to officially resign his position as White House Chief of Staff on Friday. He will then travel to Chicago to speak with voters about a potential run for mayor, according to National Public Radio.

The White House chief of staff is expected to resign.

Rahm Emanuel will likely make an announcement about his resignation as chief of staff on Friday.  Three Democrats who are close to Emanuel, told CNN that Emanuel is almost certain he will run for Chicago mayor this year. 

Rio de Janeiro wins bid to host 2016 Summer Olympic games

Rio de Janeiro beat out Chicago, Tokyo, and even Chicago to win the bid for the 2016 summer games. Chicago was eliminated in the first round of voting.

For the first time ever, South America will host its first ever Olympic games.  This afternoon, Rio de Janeiro was announced as the hosting site for the 2016 Summer Olympics. 


According to Espn.com, nearly 50,000 people erupted in a celebration after Rio was announced the winner. 


There were three rounds of voting that took place to decide the winner.  Surprisingly, Chicago was eliminated in the first round leaving Madrid, Tokyo, and Rio in the race for...

Syracuse mayoral candidate pitches plan for citywide Wi-Fi

Syracuse mayoral candidate Steve Kimatian pitched a plan for Wi-Fi city.

Syracuse Republican mayoral candidate Steve Kimatian pitched a plan Thursday to install Wi-Fi antennae throughout the city.
The municipal wireless broadband could be partially funded through federal grants and it would put Syracuse at the forefront of technology, Kimatian said.
Depending on how much of the program can be funded, the service would be offered free or at a monthly charge of less than half the cost of other Internet services.
The election will take place on Nov. 3, where Syracuse voters will choose between Kimatian, Democrat Stephanie Miner...

President Obama will make bid for 2016 Olympics

The First Couple will travel to Denmark Friday in hopes of making Chicago the host for 2016 Olympics.

ChicagoPresident Obama will travel to Denmark this week to meet with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), USATODAY reports. U.S. Olympic officials hope to bring Chicago to the table as the host for the 2016 games but competition includes Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo.
