Fabius-Pompey's proposed budget for 2011-12 school year will cut 11 positions.

The proposed budget for the Fabius-Pompey Central School District includes the cutting of 11 positions in the district and a projected tax levy increase of 4.7 percent, Superintendent Timothy Ryan told The Post-Standard.

Demonstrators protest proposed budget cuts.

According to the Post-Standard, 33 people protesting Gov. Cuomo's proposed budget cuts were arrested today outside the Capital. The protesters were led by faculty and students from the City University of New York, which faces a 10-percent cut in funding under Cuomo's proposed budget.

"Tax the rich, not the poor; stop the war on Cuny!" and "Stop the war on teachers!" were among the chants during the half-hour demonstration.

School board makes cuts to help budget deficit.

In a meeting Tuesday night, the Auburn City school board decided to shut down West Middle School at the end of this school year. According to The Post-Standard, the school district is trying to reduce a $6.5 million gap in its budget.

Gov. Cuomo's Medicaid reform task force want to reduce costs, patients worry it will limit medication needs.

ALBANY, NY -- Patients suffering from chronic diseases such as lupus, HIV/AIDS, kidney transplants and mental health disease fear Governor Cuomo's budget cuts will deny them of their necessary medications, according the The Post-Standard.

These New Yorkers are trying to convince the Legislature to reject two of the many initiatives recommended by Gov. Cuomo's Medicaid reform task force, which has been working to reduce the costs of Medicaid.

People protesting NY Gov. Cuomo's budget cuts crowd Capital.

Police say 17 protestors were arrested in Albany today, according to The Post-Standard. At least 100 people in opposition to Gov. Cuomo’s budget cuts demonstrated at the NY Capital, chanting and blocking the central stairway and hallways for an hour.
