Citizens and local police advocating for education on driving distractions are endorsing New York's new ban.

The day Jacy Good graduated from Muhlenberg College should have been filled with excitement.  Instead, it was a day marked by tragedy.

As Jacy and her parents, Jay and Jean Good, both 58, drove home to Lititz, Pa. after the commencement ceremony, their station wagon was struck by a swerving tractor-trailer. Jacy survived the crash, but was placed in the hospital with a shattered pelvis, collapsed lungs, a lacerated liver, and severe traumatic brain injury. Her parents died on impact.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo planning budget cuts to non-public schools.

Archbishop Timothy Dolan had a private lunch with Gov Cuomo today, according to The Post-Standard. Dolan would not discuss what he spoke about with Cuomo, including the issue of the Detroit lawyer who criticized Cuomo for living with his girlfriend Sandra Lee. 

The governor grew up Catholic and is interested in helping Catholic schools even though his new budget cuts funds to non-public schools. Cuomo says Catholic schools are cost effective.

Andrew Cuomo outspent Carl Paladino nearly 3-1.

State records show that the newly elected New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, spent $8 million over the last two weeks of the campaign, which was about twice as much the millionaire Republican Carl Paladino. This brought Cuomo's grand spending total on the campaign to nearly three times as much as Paladino according to the Post-Standard.

The man elected for the office of New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, is beginning his transition into power Tuesday, by meeting with the current Governor of the state, David Paterson. According to News Channel 9, the two had a meeting in New York City that day, in which they talked mostly about the state’s finances.

Andrew Cuomo announced on Friday that he will endorse Rep. Bill Owens for the 23rd Congressional District.

With less than two weeks remaining before Election Day, New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced that he is endorsing Rep. Bill Owens.

Owens is seeking his reelection bid for the 23rd Congressional District seat. The 23rd district includes Madison County, Oswego County and part of Oneida County.

The Onondaga County Executive is crossing party lines to give her support to the Democratic gubernatorial candidate.

With less than a month to go before the gubernatorial election, Republican Joanie Mahoney, Onondaga County's first female executive, endorsed her choice on Wednesday.  According to The Post-Standard, Mahoney crossed party lines and endorsed the Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo, rather than the candidate for her own party, Carl Paladino.

Lazio’s decision to give up the Republican ballot makes it likely that Tea Party candidate Carl Paladino will gain the Conservative Party’s support.

The Tea Party candidate who beat the Conservative Party’s Rick Lazio in the Republican primary will likely become the Republican candidate in New York’s gubernatorial race after Lazio announced he is removing himself from the ticket, according to The Post-Standard

A joint Iraqi-US operation succeeded in killing the two most senior members of Al Queda in Iraq according to CNN today. The US military said the deaths of Abu Ayyub al-Masri and Abu Omar al-Baghdadi are "a potentially devastating blow," to Al Queda.

After eight more U.S. troops were killed on Tuesday, October has become the deadliest month in the eight-year conflict in Afghanistan.

The New York Times is reporting that October is now the deadliest month for Americans in the war in Afghanistan following the deaths of eight more servicemen on Tuesday.  Those deaths bring the casualty total for the month of October in Afghanistan to 53.  The death total of October exceeds the total in August of 51.

A statement for the NATO-led coalition says that the eight soldiers killed on Tuesday died in several attacks using “multiple, complex” improvised bombs.Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf...
