The Syracuse men's basketball team knocks off Albany, 98-74, to advance to the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Kris Joseph led the No. 5 Syracuse to a 98-74 rout of the Albany Great Danes (1-2) Tuesday at the Carrier Dome. Joseph led the Orange (3-0) with 19 points in a game featuring a high-powered and determined Syracuse offense. With the win, the team moves on to the semifinals of Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden.

A store in Albany sold the winning ticket for Friday’s $319 million Mega Millions jackpot.  According to CNN, Coulson’s News Central sold the ticket who’s winning numbers were 22, 24, 31, 52 and 54 but as of Sunday night, nobody had come forward to claim the money.

People protesting NY Gov. Cuomo's budget cuts crowd Capital.

Police say 17 protestors were arrested in Albany today, according to The Post-Standard. At least 100 people in opposition to Gov. Cuomo’s budget cuts demonstrated at the NY Capital, chanting and blocking the central stairway and hallways for an hour.

Other New York regions represented on businessweek.com's list

Syracuse ranks No. 10 on businessweek.com's list of the 20 best places for jobseekers to "start over."

The website notes Syracuse's 7.6-percent unemployment rate and projects that 20-percent of the city's employers will increase hiring in the year's fourth quarter.

Buffalo was No. 9 on the list, the Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown area was No. 11, Rochester was No. 16 and the Albany-Schenectady-Troy area was No. 18.

Six million dollars in funds are going towards rails and ports in Central New York.

Gov. David Patterson announced his approval earlier today of more than $42 million in funding for 34 rail and port capital imporvement projects in New York. Three of these projects are located in Central New York according to www.Syracuse.com.

Stephen Keogh reaches his 100th career point and helps lead his team to a 15-8 victory against the Albany Great Danes.

It was a gorgeous, sunny, record-setting day at the Carrier Dome, but things were not so great for the Danes. Syracuse (6-1) brought in the heat from outside, and dominated Albany (2-6) 15-8. Today's game marked the No. 2 Syracuse Orange as the second team ever to reach 800 wins in Division-I lacrosse. Their all-time record is now 800-309-16 since 1916.

Syracuse University senior Eric Ouellette is an active member of the Oran Mor Pipe Band, teaching aspiring players in his free time and aspiring to be a member of the best pipe band in the world.

Nearly every Sunday, Syracuse University senior Eric Ouellette makes the familiar trip to Albany. Since 2005, the biomedical engineering major has been trekking over two hours to New York’s capital for practice. Except, this isn’t your average activity. Ouellette’s honing his skills as a bagpipe player.
