States ranging from Maryland to Maine were hit with a snowstorm Saturday; a rare weather forecast for Halloween weekend

People across New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and other northeastern areas don’t often expect large snowstorms in October, but this Halloween weekend’s unusual storm left some areas with up to 30 inches of snow, the Washington Post reports. The heavy snow weighed down tree branches that hadn’t shed their leaves yet, causing large limbs to fall.

After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, Steve Jobs dies at the age of 56

Steve Jobs was a master visionary and a fearless innovator who will forever be mentioned in the same breath as Edison and Einstein, a man that will be remembered as the guy who "put a dent in the universe."

In August, Jobs stepped down as the CEO of Apple, Inc. due to health issues stemming from his long battle with pancreatic cancer. Yesterday, at age 56, Jobs died from those same complications.

President Barak Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama filed for a joint tax return. Their adjusted gross income came to $1,728,096. The couple paid $453,770 in total federal tax, and $51,568 to Illinois in state income taxes, according to People

President Obama's main income was from from the sales of his books, according to a White House Press release.

Researchers halting study of pill that could prevent AIDS virus because it might not work.

The pill Truvada is supposed to curb infection of HIV and the AIDS virus, but scientists aren't sure if it even works.  According to CNN, after new findings were released today, researchers have halted their examination of Truvada, which is currently being sold as treatment for HIV.

U.S. college offers degrees that focus on app development.

Want to create smartphone apps like angry birds or wordfeud? Well now there's a college degree for that.

According to the UK Telegraph, Rasmussen College launched 2- and 4-year degree courses in app making. Rasmussen has campuses in five states and also offers online courses.

People Magazine releases annual 'Most Beautiful' issue.

People Magazine has chosen Jennifer Lopez as the "World's Most Beautiful Woman," Fox News reports.

Lopez, who graces the cover of People's special double issue, is a well-known singer, actress and "American Idol" judge.

The 41-year-old mother of twins says it is part of her job to be beautiful.

A mother paints her son's toenails hot pink because it's his favorite color. Does that mean he'll become gay or transgender? That is the controversy surrounding a J. Crew ad that is swirling around the internet. This is the word from ABC News.

Russia astronaut Yuri Gagarin Vostok blasted off April 12, 1961.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the first human in space, according to CNN.

On April 12, 1961, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin Vostok blasted off from the steppes of Soviet Kazahstan and spent 108 minutes completing the first ever orbit of the Earth before landing back on Soviet soil. Gagarin's orbit added fuel to the fire of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States.

ADA approves miniature horses as service animals.

New Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines may surprise people who assumed that only dogs can be trained to be service animals, MSNBC reports.

The ADA has added miniature horses to the list of approved service animals.  Miniature horses are larger than most dogs and require more care but can live up to three times as long as their canine counterparts.   And, miniature horses can be housetrained.
