The ninth-ranking Gators come to the Carrier Dome on Friday

The Syracuse Orange men's basketball team has faced some easy opponents thus far this season. In their yet-undefeated run, the toughest team the Orange has beaten is the Stanford Cardinals. Syracuse defeated Stanford last Friday in the championship game of the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament in New York City.

For the Syracuse University lacrosse team, last year's shocking first round NCAA Tournament exit against Army is still fresh in its mind as it gets ready to host Siena on Sunday night in the Carrier Dome, according to the Post-Standard.

Company will use $200,000 award to increase marketing, expand staff.

A company started by a group of Syracuse University students took home the $200,000 grand prize in the New York’s Creative Core Emerging Business Competition, according to The Post-Standard.

Investigative reporter Umar Cheema to visit Syracuse University on April 15 to receive award.

Newhouse's Tully Center for Free Speech annually gives out an award to a journalist who has faced obstacles to free speech. This year's winner is Umar Cheema, an investigative journalist for The News, a daily newspaper based in Pakistan. 

In 2010, the Committee to Protect Journalist names Pakistan as "the world's deadline country for the press." In 2010 alone, eight journalists in the country were killed in connection to their work, according to SU News.

Orange hold off late Duke rally to stay undefeated.

Syracuse, NY -- The No. 1 ranked Syracuse men's lacrosse team beat the third ranked Duke 13-11 at the New Meadowlands Stadium. The Orange started the game on fire scoring nine goals by nine different players in the first half taking a 9-2 halftime lead. The Blue devils came roaring back in the fourth quarter with five unanswered goals to come within 2. But the late surge just wasn't enough.

LA semester program needs more space due to increased student attendance.

The SU semester in Los Angeles has outgrown its current campus and is moving to a bigger facility, according to The Post-Standard. Even though the program started only two years ago, there is already need for expansion.

In 2009, SU opened the semester-long satellite program to a class of 28 students and by this fall, the incoming class will be 50.

David B. Falk donates $15 million to Syracuse University.

Syracuse, NY -- Syracuse University is going to change the name of the College of Human Ecology to the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics after Devid B. Falk donated $15 million to the University, according to The Post-Standard.

Governor Cuomo presents his budget message at SU.

Governor Cuomo visited Syracuse this morning to present his budget message, reports The Post-Standard. Cuomo spoke at Schine Student Center this morning at 11 a.m. He was originally scheduled visit earlier in the month but a foot of snow and a shut down of the university derailed his plans.

Syracuse men's basketball season is now over. The Orange lost to Marquette University  66-62 in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Syracuse had high expectations in the tournament being placed as a three seed but couldn't live up to their potential. Led by Darius Johnson-Odom's 17 points and four assists, the 11-seed Golden Eagles out-played and out-hustled the Orange.

The Golden Eagles now move on to Newark, New Jersey to play North Carolina in the Sweet 16. Syracuse finished the season with a 27-8 record going 12-6 in Big East conference play.

Syracuse basketball's head coach says he can see the end coaching career within next four years.

Jim Boeheim says his tenure as head coach for Syracuse Men's basketball is nearing its end, according to ESPN. The 66-year-old Boeheim spoke after the Orange defeated St. Johns to advance to the semi-finals of the Big East Tournament.

A tired Boeheim talked about the difficult and long schedule of playing in the Big East each season. Coach Boeheim told reporters he plans on returning next season but he won't be coaching in four years time.
