Former chief of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn was released on bail on Monday, after eight hours of questions,  and handed preliminary charges for involvement in a high-profile pimping ring.  According to CNN, in just the past year, Strauss-Kahn has seen the disintegration of his reputation due to links with several sex allegations.

Meanwhile, Russia and China accept the plan in a non-binding presidential statement

The Syrian government has accepted a peace plan developed by U.N. Arab League Envoy Kofi Annan to end violence, Anan’s spokesperson told CNN on Tuesday. 

According to MSNBC, Annan has a six-point plan to end violence in Syria, and he described the details of this plan at a meeting in China on Wednesday.

According to a CNN poll, a majority of Americans want George Zimmerman arrested

Three out of four Americans believe police should arrest George Zimmerman, the man who admitted to shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, on February 26, according to a CNN survey.  Eleven percent disagreed with the statement and 16 percent were unsure.

Police discover a threatening note, leading many to think the death was a hate crime

An Iraqi woman who was found severely beaten in her Southern California home Wednesday has died.

According to NBC, Shaima Alawadi, a 32-year-old mother of five, was found unconscious in her house in El Cajon by her teenage daughter. On Saturday, Alawadi was taken off life support after being on it since Wednesday.

After suffering from at least five heart attacks, Cheney received a new heart from an anonymous donor.

After a long history of heart problems, Dick Cheney, former Vice President to George W. Bush, received a heart transplant over the weekend in Falls Church, Virginia. 

According to The Toronto Star, the 71-year-old’s new heart came from a donor whose identity is remaining anonymous.

Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales charged with 17 counts of murder

The European Union imposed new sanctions on 12 more Syrians on Friday including the British-born Syria’s first lady Asma Assad and three other family members.

The sanctions include banning travel to the EU and freezing assets to add economic pressure to Syria, forcing an end to the brutal crackdown that has killed more than 8,000 people.
