Update: Three missing in Ohio, found dead

The bodies were found in connection to the teen found earlier this week

Thursday, authorities said they found the bodies of three people that were still missing after an Ohio teen was found Sunday.

While in custody Matthew Hoffman led police to find the bodies of Tina Hermann, 32, her son Kody Maynard, 10, and friend Stephanie Sprang, 41, authorities said. Knox County Sheriff David Barber said they found the remains inside trash bags in a hollow tree about 20 miles from the Hermann home, CNN reports.

Sarah Maynard, 13, had been found bound and gagged in Hoffman’s basement in Mount Vernon, about 50 miles northeast of Columbus, Ohio. Hoffman currently faces charges for Sarah’s kidnapping. She was released from the hospital Monday, and it is still unknown whether she was witness to the three killings.

“Sarah is with family and is doing well,” said Sheriff Barber. “She is a very brave little girl.”

Knox County prosecutor John C. Thatcher said Hoffman has not confessed to the killings.
