Travelers heading south swamp Hancock International Airport

Department of aviation recommends arriving extra early.

SYRACUSE, NY -- Many schools across Onondaga County will be closed next week for February break and families all over the region are already heading to warmer vacation destinations, according to The Post-Standard..

Officials are urging travelers to get to the airport early and with time to spare to make sure they do not miss their flights.

The Syracuse Department of Aviation released a statement informing people the airport will be busier than usual:

"Several of the airlines operating out of the Syracuse airport have indicated heavier than normal load factors leading up to the week of Feb. 21."

Travelers should arrive approximately 90 minutes before their flight to find parking, check-in and go through security. They are also encouraged to use public transportation or taxis to get to the airport, since the Hancock parking lots are experiencing overflow problems.
