The driver in a car crash that killed Liverpool High School senior Victoria Deverso, 17, last May is set to appear in Madison County Court today, The Post-Standard reports.
Chelsea Kuss, 18, of 127 Hamden Drive, Lyncourt was charged in September with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated for her part in the May 24 crash in Sullivan.
Kuss was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.13 percent when she hit a minivan carrying Deverso and 37-year-old Peggy Blume. The crash broke both of Blume's arms and legs and fractured her skull.
Because Kuss was 17 at the time of the crash, Madison County District Attorney Bill Gabor said she could be eligible for discretionary youthful-offender status. Gabor says his office hopes the judge sentences her as an adult.
