Bells at Downtown Syracuse's City Hall will ring again, and may be operational as early as this Christmas.
A donation made through the Syracuse rotary club will pay to upgrade the electronic bell system. The donor's name is being kept in the City Hall for now. The new bell system is expected to cost around $12,000, according to The Post-Standard.
The antique device that used to exist is being replaced by a newer, digital model, according to Lonnie Bornstein, chief city electrician.
