Mexican food lovers, get ready. Chipotle Mexican Grill is setting up its second branch in Central New York, this time, closer to the SU campus. The Post-Standard reported that within the next couple weeks, the Denver-based "fast-food" chain will be opening up shop on Marshall Street where King David, the Middle Eastern and Greek restaurant, had been located since 1974. King David will eventually be upstairs, while Chipotle will occupy the street level.
The first branch in in CNY opened in DeWitt in October, near the Shopping Town Mall.
Chris Arnold, the company's Communications Director, said that the Syracuse branch is only "weeks away" from opening, but as of now, there is no fixed date.
Chiptole is renowned for its fast, tasty food selections, like made-to-order burritos and salads. The market research firm Tehnomic Inc. recently named Chipotle one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in the United States.
