Syracuse men's lacrosse beats Duke

Orange hold off late Duke rally to stay undefeated.

Syracuse, NY -- The No. 1 ranked Syracuse men's lacrosse team beat the third ranked Duke 13-11 at the New Meadowlands Stadium. The Orange started the game on fire scoring nine goals by nine different players in the first half taking a 9-2 halftime lead. The Blue devils came roaring back in the fourth quarter with five unanswered goals to come within 2. But the late surge just wasn't enough.

Stephen Keogh scored three goals and had an assist to lead the way for Syracuse, who now advances to 8-0. In net, John Galloway was spectacular, grabbing 16 saves on his way to a record-breaking night. In the win, Galloway moved to first all-time in career wins by a goalie in NCAA history with 52.

From the stat line, you would not have guessed Syracuse won. Duke out shot, gathered more groundballs and won more face-offs than the Orange. Regardless, SU is off to its best start since 1990.
