The Syracuse Orange football team has accepted its invitation to play in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl in New York City, according to The Post-Standard.
The Orange have not played in a bowl game since 2004 the last time the team had a winning record. This will be the first New Era Pinstripe Bowl and it will be held at the new Yankee Stadium. It will be the second football game played at the New Yankee Stadium and the first college bowl game played in the Bronx since the Gotham Bowl in 1962.
Syracuse will play in the New York City area a few more times in coming years at the New Meadowlands Stadium against teams such as USC, Penn State and Notre Dame starting in 2012.
