The Syracuse Orange have been hot and cold as of late this season. Monday night they seemed to be on the right track though as they defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers
63-52. The win comes after a disappointing loss to the Louisville Cardinals Saturday when they fell behind by as many as 20 points early in the second half and tried to battle back.
The No. 20 nationally-ranked team gathered themselves Monday night on both sides of the ball. The Mountaineers were held to just 22 second-half points on 7-25 shooting from the field. Along with the team’s defensive efforts were offensive contributions from several players. Brandon Triche lead the Orange with 20 points, Kris Joseph added 20, and Senior Rick Jackson gave a solid effort with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
The Orange have struggled as of late losing six of the last eight games but Jackson called this win a confidence booster, "We've been losing games. I think this was a great confidence game for us."
The Orange look to add to their confidence as they host Rutgers Saturday inside the Carrier Dome.
