Syracuse basketball claims Legends Classic Tournament title

Boeheim's bunch moves up in Monday's polls

After a shaky start on the offensive end, Syracuse Basketball found its touch from the floor against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the final of the Legends Classic Tournament in Atlantic City, according to SU Atheltics.  Five scored in double figures as the Orange took down their ACC opponents by the final of 80-76.  S.U. shot a season high 56 percent from the field, and were anchored by starting power forward and Tournament MVP Rick Jackson.  The senior out of Philadelphia, P.A. recorded his fifth double-double in the first six games of the young season, good for the twelfth of his career.

Syracuse is off to its third straight 6-0 start, and the voters took notice in today's newest polls.  Jim Boeheim's bunch is now ranked #8 in the Associated Press rankings and #7 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.  The Pittsburgh Panthers and Connecticut Huskies are the other BIG EAST representatives in the nation's Top 10.  The Panthers are off to a 7-0 start, and the Huskies are making early-season noise after big victories over then-ranked #2 Michigan State and #9 Kentucky.

The Orange is back in action Tuesday night against Central New York neighbor Cornell.  The Big Red has lost 32 in a row to the Carrier Dome hosts, and returns to Jim Boeheim Court for the first time since its Sweet 16 loss to John Calipari's Kentucky Wildcats last year.
