Suspected terrorist pleads not guilty

Najibullah Zazi, a suspected terrorist, pleads not guilty to charges of plotting to use weapons of mass destruction.

A terrorism suspect has pleaded not guilty.

Najibullah Zazi was charged with plotting to use weapons of mass destruction. Zazi faced a New York City judge Tuesday and has declared his innocence, says NPR.org.

The FBI arrested Zazi over a week ago after an ongoing investigation by U.S. intelligence officials. Officials had been tracking Zazi for months, looking to discover the intent of the weapons, as well as with whom Zazi was working, says NPR.org.

Zazi’s plot is considered one of the most dangerous terrorists threats against the U.S. since the Sept. 11, 2009 attacks, according to NPR.org.

My Take: Zazi’s plea of not guilty will continue an ongoing terrorism investigation. The plotted attacks had potential to be detrimental to the U.S.

SU kicks off Homecoming Week

Today kicks off the beginning of Homecoming week at Syracuse University. Now referred to as Orange Central, students will have the opportunity to take part in events throughout campus during this week, according to the Office of Student Life website.

Earlier today students had answered trivia, played games and competed for free 2009 Homecoming t-shirts at the Schine Student Center Atrium.

Tonight students will sing their hearts out at Goldstein Auditorium in hopes of becoming SU Idol, an “orange” take on the popular TV show, American Idol, says the OSL website.

My Take: Syracuse University's homecoming kick-off is an age long tradition where students and alumni show their pride for the Orange through ongoing events on campus.

Jon Gosselin cut from TV show

TLC announced that they will drop Jon Gosselin from his own TV show, Jon and Kate Plus 8, according to People.com.

As of Nov. 2, the show will change its name to Kate Plus 8, says People.com.

After a very public split, Jon and Kate Gosselin decided to continue with their hit reality show that focused on their lives with eight children. The show, which debuted in 2007, peaked as viewers watched the happy couple’s marriage fall apart, according to People.com

Jon and Kate have been living very public and very separate lives, says People.com.

My Take: The name change of Jon and Kate Plus 8 is an unexpected and bold move made by TLC. Jon and Kate Gosselin held audiences captive over the summer with their very public separation.
