CNN.com is reporting the USS Nicholas reported taking fire from a suspected pirate skiff west of Seychelles shortly after midnight local time. The Nicholas immediately pursued the skiff, which was eventually disabled. A boarding team from the Nicholas then captured and detained three people.
Two more suspected pirates were later captured from a confiscated "mother ship." The detainees will remain in U.S. custody on board the Nicholas until their disposition is determined.
