Syracuse beat West Virginia 19-14, but senior linebacker Doug Hogue is receiving more than just the Schwartzwalder Trophy for his efforts. Hogue was named the Big East defensive player of the week as well as the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Defensive Player of the Week, according to The Post-Standard.
Hogue recorded ten tackles and two interceptions, returning one of the picks 49 yards to set up a Syracuse field goal.
Syracuse’s kicker, true freshman Ross Krautman, was named to the Big East weekly honor roll after kicking four field goals in the victory. Of the team’s 19 points, Krautman was responsible for 13 thanks to the four field goals and one extra-point.
Hogue’s award comes just two weeks after teammate Max Suter was named the Big East defensive player of the week for his efforts against South Florida.
