The Philadelphia Eagles have traded quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins for Washington's second round pick in this year's draft, and either a third or fourth round pick in next years draft.
The trade was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter Sunday night.
Rumors of a McNabb trade had been swirling since the end of last season, with possible deals to Oakland or Buffalo being discussed, and the saga concluded last night. The quarterback will join new head coach Mike Shanahan in Washington next season.
McNabb spent all eleven of his NFL season's in Philadelphia, leading the team to five NFC championship games and one Super Bowl, but had fallen out of favor with many Philadelphia fans due to his inability to bring the city a Super Bowl championship.
McNabb would have been due a $6.5 bonus if he were still on the Eagles' roster on May 5.
Kevin Kolb, entering his fourth NFL season, will take over as the starting quarterback in Philadelphia.
