Scoop Jardine returning for senior year

SU basketball star tweets about his decision to return.

Syracuse point guard Scoop Jardine announced today he's returning for his senior year via his twitter page, The Post-Standard reports.

Jardine, whose twitter profile is PhillyFlash11, started off with "What's up tweeps ... I'm back on this twitter thing for a while. Best believe I heard all the negative things that was said about me,''

In his second tweet he wrote, "Oh best believe I will use all that for motivation Bcuz I will be back next year! Special s/o to all my teammates and coaches I love y'all.''

Jardine's tweets put to rest speculation that he might not be back for the 2011-12 season. Although in terms of athletic ability Jardine is a junior, he's in his fourth year at Syracuse University and on course to graduate this spring. He is eligible to play next year since an injury during the 2008-09 season called for him to be redshirted.

Jardine led the Big East in assists this past season and was Syracuse's third-leading scorer at 12.5 points per game.

However, he caught great heat from Syracuse fans, especially after the team's loss in the NCAA tournament to Marquette. He committed a backcourt violation in the game's final minute, although the NCAA has confirmed the call was in error.
