Although it may not seem like it, the average drive to work for people commuting to Syracuse is considered below average compared to cities throughout America, according to The Post-Standard.
On average, it takes a person 16.8 minutes to commute from his or her suburb into the city of Syracuse. But this number seems low compared to the 43.5-minute drive commuters make to Lake Elsinore, Calif. -- nearly three times as long as it takes someone to commute to Syracuse.
Forbes reports the average American commutes 25.3 minutes to work each morning. According to the U.S. Census, Syracuse happens to fall below this average.
Six of the 11 worst commuter cities are in California and the other five are suburbs of Washington, D.C.
