Professor accused of murder had violent history

Plus, protestors call for compassionate immigration reform at Syracuse Rally and CC Sabathia expects no Yanks letdown

The woman accused of killing three colleagues at the University of Alabama has a history of violence, including assault in connection with the shooting death of her brother in 1986, the New York Times reports.

The death of Amy Bishop’s brother was ruled accidental when her mother told police investigators that the gun went off when Amy tired to load it. The district attorney’s office could not explain why no charges were filed against Bishop at the time.

Bishop was also charged with assault in 2002 after punching a woman in the head at an International House of Pancakes in Peabody, Mass, The Boston Globe said.

A spokesperson for the university at Huntsville said Bishop’s violent past was unknown when she was hired.

Protestors call for compassionate immigration reform at Syracuse rally

An SU student participated in a rally for immigration law reform today outside the federal building in Syracuse.

The student, who requested her name be withheld, hopes her illegal immigrant parents from Columbia can finally gain American citizenship through the proposal for immigrant reform.

According to The Post Standard, Syracuse is one of several stops the caravan of demonstrators is making across the state in their push for immigration reform.

CC Sabathia expects no Yanks letdown

After his first pre-season training workout, Yankee’s ace pitcher CC Sabathia says there won’t be any let-down in the World Series champions this spring.

Sabathia says his team is excited to be at the ballpark every day. ESPN reports the club's veteran group of Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte are the team’s leaders in Sabathias eyes.

Today Sabathia will have his third bullpen session, his first in Florida.
