Police raid marijuana operations in Cayuga and Onondaga County

Police agencies raided several marijuana growing operations on Thursday. Over 600 marijuana plants, four pounds of marijuana prepared for sale and more than $23,000 were seized by police.

According to Syracuse.com, members of Auburn police, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, state police, and the Onondaga County district attorney’s office took part in the raids on Thursday.

Multiple Cayuga County addresses and one Onondaga County location were searched according to authorities.

The raid eventually led to federal marijuana charges against Joshua J. Cole of 134 Wall St., Auburn, and Michael A. Calogero of 435 Boscobell Lane, Moravia.

Parts of residences and a barn were used for the growing operations. Police say the climate conditions for the plants were controlled by electronic systems.

The investigation had been underway for months. According to police the investigation began in 2009 by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force.

Auburn police are not releasing the mug shots or exact charges of the suspects yet. According to authorities the investigation is still ongoing.

President Obama seeks equal hospital visitation rights for gay and lesbian partners

According to cbsnews.com President Obama is asking the Department of Health and Human Services to add new rules for all hospitals participating in Medicare or Medicaid to provide equal visitation rights.

The change would seek to grant gay and lesbian partners the same visitation rights as married couples.

However this change would also help others as well. Widows and widowers, members of religious orders and others who are closely connected with patients but not considered immediate family will be affected as well.

The changes would also stop hospitals from denying visitation rights based on religion, race, sex, sexual orientation, and other discriminatory factors. The new rules however would still allow doctors’ discretion over medical considerations.

In a two-page memo released on Thursday the president wrote and outlined the importance of the hospital changes.

"It means that doctors and nurses do not always have the best information about patients' medications and medical histories … It means that a stressful and at times terrifying experience for patients is senselessly compounded by indignity and unfairness. And it means that all too often, people are made to suffer or even to pass away alone, denied the comfort of companionship in their final moments while a loved one is left worrying and pacing down the hall."

Kim Kardashian reveals all in her new photo shoot

Kardashian seems to bare all in her new nude and unretouched Harper’s Bazaar magazine photos, however the stars nude photos don’t seem to be raising excitement for everyone.

Ew.com reports that after the leaked sex tape starring Kim and Ray J, seeing Kim naked seems like nothing new.

Though it may not be new for Kim, she isn’t the only one in the Bazaar shots. According to ew.com Parenthood’s Joy Bryant, and British actress-photographer Amanda de Cadenet are also being “unretouched.”

Early this week American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi also appeared nude for an allure magazine photo, making these revealing celebrity photos perhaps a trend that we can expect to see a lot more of.
