WARNERS, NY -- Today's warmer weather proved to be detrimental for the roof of St. Luke's Ukranian Church in Warners.
The Post-Standard reported the middle section of the parish hall roof collapsed this afternoon. The church's vice president, Peter Tymchenko, said he was at the hall conducting a meeting with an insurance adjuster at the time of the crash. They were planning to discuss wallboard and insulation damage in the hall that was recently noticed.
The parish hall, a detached building from the sanctuary, began caving in at about 12:45 p.m. Tymchenko saw bits of insulation in the hall and then heard the cracking sounds. Immediately after he exited the building, the roof collapsed. The roof was supporting about three feet of snow, which may have caused the accident.
No one sustained any injuries, and the collapse was reported at 12:48 p.m. with response from the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office.
