Onondaga County's second most wanted caught

Plus, the U.S. will launch an investigation into Toyota Corolla steering issues, and a Haiti judge has freed Americans who were charged with kidnapping.

A man who was number two on Onondaga County's Ten Most Wanted list turned himself in today, County Sheriff Kevin Walsh said.

Parawahsaman Deer, 24, was wanted for violation of his parole and was taken into custody just after 6 p.m. today without incident, according to CNYcentral.com.

Walsh said Deer made arrangements to turn himself in today after contacting his lawyer.

Deer was second on the Most Wanted list, right behind Central New York bank robber Gary LaTray, who will appear on America's Most Wanted on Saturday.

U.S. to probe Toyota Corolla steering problems

Officials at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will formally announce a probe on Thursday to investigate steering problems in approximately 500,000 Toyota Corollas.

NHTSA officials said, as of last week, they have received more than 80 complaints regarding steering problems in 2009 and 2010 models.

About 363,000 Corollas from 2009 and 136,000 from 2010 could be affected, according to an NHTSA official.

Toyota has already recalled more than 8.1 million vehicles around the world, according to CNN.com.

Haiti judge frees 8 American missionaries

Eight out of the 10 American missionaries who were charged with kidnapping Hatian children three weeks ago were released from jail Wed., according to the Associated Press.

Judge Bernard Saint-Vil said the eight americans were free to leave without bail or other conditions.

The 10 americans were accused of trying to take 33 Hatian children into the Dominican Republic without proper documents.

Saint-Vil said he decided to release the eight missionaries after parents of the children made statements proving they can be released.
