Ohio State coach Jim Tessel gets two-game ban, fine

NCAA charges head football coach with failing to notify school of player infractions.

Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel has received a two-game suspension and a $250,000 fine from the NCAA for failing to notify the school of NCAA infractions incurred by Ohio State players, according to ESPN.

The players, including star quarterback Terrelle Pryor, were suspended by the NCAA in December for the first five games of the 2011 season for their involvement in selling memoribilia to a local tattoo parlor owner in exchange for free tattoos.

However, the school found out in January that Tressel had known of the NCAA investigation long before they did. In fact, Tressel had known since April 2010 and all throughout the 2010 season.

The NCAA is still investigating and could reject Ohio State's self-imposed penalties on Tressell if they find the incident is more serious.
