A ten-year-old girl from North Carolina is still nowhere to be found, five days after her parents first reported her missing. Investigators drained a pond Wednesday in hopes of finding Zahra Clare Baker, but came up empty, according to CNN.
Baker's stepmother is in jail on charges of obstruction of justice after she admitted to writing a ransom note that was found in the family's home. No charges have been pressed against Baker's father, but county authorities are still unsure of his implication. The County Sheriff said he doubted the sincerity of the father's concern.
Baker's parents reported they last saw her sleeping in her bed at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, but authorities said Baker may have been missing for a month. No one outside of Baker's immediate family claims to have seen her at that time.
