The New Study Hall

Plus, another Cash for Clunkers program and New York's annual Fashion Week

AutoNet Mobile is the company marketing the router that has given school districts in Vail, Arizona wireless on their school buses. With the hours students spend on the bus to and from school, bus drivers say that there is a big difference in the bus-ride experience.

Students have gone from jumping seat to seat and screaming to clicking away on their keyboards. Not only do homework and essays get done, but students also create music to pass the time using special programs.

The router costs $200 and there is a $60 a month service contract for the Internet.

"That was the quietest ride I've ever had with high schoolers," bus driver Cody Bingham, said. Schools and districts in Florida, Missouri and Washington, D.C. will be experiencing these Wi-Fi cafe's on their buses soon as well.

Cash For Clunkers: Appliance Style

Today about $17 million will start to be handed out in New York to people who buy Energy Star appliances. The program is lasting only 10 days for the statewide rebates.

Olum's in Dewitt has been preparing for the rebates to make sure the customers and the store itself can gain the maximum benefit from the program. Chris Anglestein, a sales manager at Olum's said he expects New York's money to go fast. At Olum's customers will get extra money back for recycling their old appliances too.

Syracuse University's Maxwell School economist, Don Dutkowsky says the state should have timed this program with the income tax rebates. Sears and Lowe's are also offering specials as well.

This New York rebate program ends Feb. 21.

Now, Strut!

With the New York Fashion Week kick off today in Bryant Park, the catwalk is back in action showcasing the new designs of this year.

"Recession talk seems to be over," says Fern Mallis of IMG Fashion. Whether you are going to buy the designer brands or go for the knockoffs, Fashion Week is something every shopper wants to tune in to. The NPD market research group has shown people aren't as afraid to spend money, the numbers have significantly shifted.

The creative director of Barney's says he doesn't think there has been this much diversity in the fashion landscape. With a million ways to dress, there is always optimism and creativity that is brought to the runway and all those following are taking mental notes.

Fashionistas will glow this week with inspiration of new spring and summer attire.
