NCAA may have losing teams in bowl games

NCAA may be forced to put losing college teams in bowl games

The NCAA for the first time ever may be forced to let college programs with losing records into bowl games. There is a chance that there will not be enough teams with winning records to fill the 35 bowls.

Seventy winning programs are needed to complete the bowl scheduled and talks are already underway on what steps to take if that number of programs is not matched according to The Post-Standard.

In comparison to last year, for 68 possible bowl births, only 71 programs were eligible. The rules now mandate that a team have six wins with at least five of those coming from games against Football Bowl Subdivision teams. The Orange are currently 3-1.
