Minnesota Twins pegged as underdogs as they take on the New York Yankees in postseason

Despite many postseason triumphs over the Minnesota Twins, the New York Yankees will disregard past performances as they participate in their first playoff game tonight.

The New York Yankees will battle the Minnesota Twins in the first round of the American League postseason tonight, according to the Post-Standard.  The Yankees, who have a dominating record over the Twins in the past decade, are 9-2 against Minnesota in the first round of the AL playoffs.

The Post-Standard writes that many fans are calling the first round an "E-Z Pass" for the Yankees, but Yankee captain and shortstop, Derek Jeter, ignores these predictions.

"Doesn't mean anything," shortstop Derek Jeter said. "We haven't played 'em in awhile. We understand that they're very hot, especially in the second half. They'll play us tough. Anything that's happened in the past has no bearing on this season."

Francisco Liriano will start for the Twins in the opener against Bronx Bomber, CC Sabathia.  It will be the first outdoor postseason game in Minnesota since 1970.

The game will air at 8:37 p.m. on TBS.
