The four-team trade that had NBA superstar, Carmelo Anthony, to the New Jersey Nets is reported to be dead, according to ESPN. The deal fell through when Nets General Manager, Billy King, reportedly set a Tuesday deadline for the Denver Nuggets to make a decision on the deal but the Nuggets did not accept or reject the offer. The Nets were no longer prepared to wait any longer on the Nugget's indecision,.
The Nets, Nuggets, Jazz and Bobcats were the four teams involved in the deal. It would have sent the Nets' Derrick Favors and Andrei Kirilenko of the Jazz to Denver along with two first-round picks in the NBA draft. The Bobcats would received Devin Harris of the Nets and sent Boris Diaw to Utah.
ESPN reports that it is still possible that another deal with the Nets centered around Carmelo Anthony could be constructed. The sources say the Nets do not want to create anymore tension around their team in training camp and with their new head coach, Avery Johnson. Players on all squads have been distracted by the anticipated blockbuster trade.
