As one of the NBA's busiest offseason in recent memory gives way to training camps, trade rumors continue to swirl around one of the league's biggest stars, according to ESPN. Carmelo Anthony, the Denver Nuggets' 3-time All-Star forward, arrives at the team's media day after talks of a blockbuster deal dominated the weekend. The New Jersey Nets, with a new owner and head coach in the fold, became the major players to land Anthony and bring him back to the East Coast where he became a household name as the leader of Syracuse's national championship team in 2003.
In the last hour, Anthony has spoken to reporters, waving off questions about his name in a trade, even mentioning that he never requested a trade. Reports of a wish-list of potential destinations for "Melo" surfaced last week, with the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls as his favorites. A four-team deal that would bring Anthony to the Nets hit a snag as the conflict of a contract extension came into play. Anthony is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 of next year. The NBA could receive another makeover after a free agent circus this past summer saw the Miami Heat sign LeBron James and Chris Bosh, and the Knicks bring Amare Stoudemire to New York.
