Spring training games are just around the corner but for Mariano Rivera, family still comes first. The New York Yankees pitcher finally arrived in spring training camp today after an excused absence from the club which allowed Rivera to tend to his sick family, according to ESPN. Rivera's wife and three children all had the flu but Rivera says he’s ready to get in shape for the season.
"I'm here and I'm ready to work," Rivera said. "I feel great, but I haven't done any throwing yet. Talk to me later after I throw."
Rivera, 41, who signed a two-year contract in the off-season, has only missed some pitcher's fielding drills so far in spring training.
