Syracuse University senior tight end Mike Owen was invited to try out at the New York Jets minicamp. Owen received the invitation from Gang Green 45 minutes after the end of the 2010 NFL Draft, during which Owen was not drafted.
Owen is expected to arrive at the Jets training complex in Florham Park, N.J. on Thursday for a three-day tryout. If he is offered a contract, the tight end will join the Jets for preseason training camp this summer, but will still have to make the team from there.
Owen caught 12 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown during his final season with the Orange.
