Mahoney to co-chair Cuomo's transition team

Onondaga County Executive to help Governor-elect Cuomo with filling positions in administration

Republican Joanne Mahoney will co-chair Democratic Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo's transition team, according to The Post-Standard. Mahoney will work with Lieutenant Governor-elect Robert Duffy, recommending people to fill key positions in the new governor's administration.

Mahoney endorsed Cuomo for governor last month, much to the chagrin of Republican party leaders, saying she believed Cuomo was the best choice for Onondaga County.  Cuomo thanked Mahoney and the rest of his transition team in a news release, adding that each brings a, "wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the challenges facing the state of New York."

US Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, former state Comptroller Carl McCall, and former Municipal Assistance Corporation Chairman Felix Rohatyn will also serve as co-chairs on the team.
