London plans transportation for 2012 Olympics

City's subway network will extend its hours during next year's Olympic Games.

According to USA Today, the London tube trains will run as late as 2 a.m. during the summer games or hour later than normal.

Extra trains from Olympic events in east London will also be added for the busy nighttime hours.

Officials expect visitors to be able to leave evening events at the Olympic Park and connect with mainline train services to reach their destinations.

Transport officials say a series of expensive improvements to the complicated London train and subway system are on schedule.
