Union supporters continue to rally in Wisconsin, but are outraged that the left-leaning website was blocked for a period of time this morning, according to CNN.
The protestors in the Capitol building were unable to access the website and blamed Republican Gov. Scott Walker. "In a direct assault on the First Amendment, Scott Walker's administration is blocking access in the Wisconsin Capitol to opposition websites," Wisconsin Democratic Party spokesperson Graeme Zielinski said.
Gov. Walker's spokesperson Cullen Werwie said this was a lie. Werwie asserted that the Department of Administration often blocks websites until they are approved.
"The Democratic Party should spend less time lying about Gov. Walker and more time trying to get their AWOL state senators back to Winsconsin," Werwie said.
Werwie was referring to the Democratic state senators of Wisconsin who are boycotting the legislature in Illionois. They won't allow a vote on Gov. Walker's budget-repair bill unless Walker removes the plan to eliminate collective-bargaining rights.
The website outage began after Walker criticized the protesting unions in a speech. The Capitol internet service restricts access to inappropriate content.
The site is now accessible.
