After a two-day stay in the hospital for a gastric viral infection, former President Jimmy Carter has been released, according to CNN. Carter went to the hospital Tuesday morning after complaining of an upset stomach upon landing in Cleveland. Carter spent two nights in the hospital for observation.
Carter will resume his cross-country book tour this week. He was forced to miss the scheduled book signing in Cleveland, as well as other dates in Washington.
The former president and his wife are known for maintaining active lifestyles, according to CNN. Carter is the oldest living president. He will turn 86 Friday.
