Attendees of the Syracuse vs. Villanova game this saturday will all receive an orange towel with the foundation's motto "Helping to Better our Communities." Jim and Juli Boeheim have thought about starting their own charitable foundation for years, but haven't had the time until now. According to The Post-Standard The couple filed paperwork for the nonprofit organization last June, and in September were granted tax-exempt status.
The foundation will focus on helping children in the Syracuse area. The money the foundation raises will go to Jim's Kids, Sneakers 4 Kids, and Courts 4 Kids primarily. "If schools need computers, if they need a basketball court fixed, we can do that." Jim Boeheim said. "It could be a wide range of things."

Health Insurance rate increases are targeted by the Obama administration
President Obama's latest health insurance reform proposal will be presented to the White House this morning. The Obama administration will propose legislation that would allow the government to block excessive rate hikes by health insurance companies, according to CNN news.
His proposal would prevent arbitrary insurance rate hikes such as the recent 39 percent increase in California. Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-California, proposed similar legislation last week after the premium increase of Anthem Blue Cross of California, two senior administration officials said.
The proposal also includes changes to the "Nebraska Deal," that exempts that state from paying increased Medicaid expenses, and a series of measures to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse.
The House of Representatives and Senate both have passed their own versions of health care reform. Obama hopes his plan will smooth out the differences of each.
USA hockey ends up with number 1 seed in Olympic tournament
The American Hockey team caused the biggest Olympic upset since The Miracle on Ice, defeating Canada 5-3 in last night's game. The U.S. advances to the quarterfinals and moves into the number 1 seed after Sweden beats Finland 3-0.
ESPN reports Canada outshot the United States 45-23, but couldn't stop goalie Ryan Miller from making 42 saves in the victory of a lifetime. Brian Rafalski scored two of the goals to silence a pro-Canada crowd in Vancouver. The upset occurred one day before the 30th anniversary of Canada's greatest victory, the win over Soviet Union in Lake Placid.
The United States will continue in the tournament this Wednesday, playing the winner of the Switzerland-Belarus game. Canada, the gold-medal favorite, will now play Germany Tuesday night. It must defeat Germany to still have a shot at Gold.
