The Iceland volcano is not only a environmental disaster but, due to the cancellation of flights, also a nightmare to the European economy.
According to CNN, 63,000 flights had been canceled in four days, disrupting global travel and freight.
Based on the Dow Jones Newswires, a $40 billion bailout for Greece is delayed at least until Wednesday. Meanwhile, the air industry in Europe is try their best to put pressure on reopen the skies.
The cancellations of flights become a blessing to other transportation. Trains, bus, and seafaring companies in Europe can expect an increase in their business.
After several months' evaluation, debating, and recalling, Toyota finally agreed today to pay a record $16.4 million fine, according to the Associated Press.
"By failing to report known safety problems as it is required to do under the law, Toyota put consumers at risk," Ray LaHood, the transportation Secretary, said.
Toyota said it agreed to pay the fine "to avoid a protracted dispute and possible litigation," but denied that it violated the law.
"We believe we made a good faith effort to investigate this condition and develop an appropriate countermeasure. We have acknowledged that we could have done a better job of sharing relevant information within our global operations and outside the company, but we did not try to hide a defect to avoid dealing with a safety problem," said a Toyota representative.
It has been the fourth weekend since the DreamWorks Animated 3-D flick "How to Train Your Dragon" was released; however, it only fell 20 percent and stands at $158.6 million in total now.
"How to Train your Dragon" squeezed out first-place finish with an estimated $20 million last week, while "Kick-Ass" grossed an estimated $19.75 million for a second place, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The third place belongs to Date Night, and Death at a Funeral got the fourth spot with a B+ Cinemascore.
