Heated custody battle in Tennessee, for an elephant.

The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee is in a custody battle with the company's former leader.

Many custody battles have taken place in America but not one quite like this. Carol Buckley has filed a lawsuit against the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Buckley used to be the president and CEO of the Elephant Sanctuary until she was fired, forced out of her house on sanctuary grounds and banned from visiting the 36-year-old Asian elephant that she raised.

The Elephant Sanctuary was created to help refuge elephants. Many of the elephants are older and spent their lives as performers.  Buckley says that she was fired after refusing a $60,000 payment to a board members spouse. Buckley also claims that the board wrongfully said that she was aggressive with the elephants and was involved in illegal practices, according to the New York Times.

After all the court procedures are finished Buckley expects over $ 1 million, her job back and new visitation rights for the Elephant she raised, Tarra.
