The Lombardi Trophy is heading back to Green Bay after the Packers beat the Steelers 31-25 last night at Cowboys Stadium to win Super Bowl XLV.
"You play to be world champions," Packers linebacker Clay Matthews told ESPN. "That's what we are today."
The Packers jumped out to a big early lead behind the right arm of their star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. First-half touchdown passes to Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings helped Green Bay take a 21-3 lead. Rodgers finished the day with more than 300 yards passing and three touchdowns.
While Rogers was sharp early, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger struggled. The two-time Super Bowl champ threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by Nick Collins.
Even with all the early struggles, Pittsburgh had a chance to win late. After closing the gap to six points, the Steelers took possession of the ball with less than two minutes on the clock. But Roethlisberger's pass on fourth down sailed incomplete, giving the championship to Green Bay.
