Former SU basketball player and Detroit Pistons legend Dave Bing spoke at the business school's seventh annual Whitman Day, says the Post-Standard.
While Bing was a star basketball, he's taking on a new challenge as the mayor of Detroit. He's held the position for a year, and he has the task of trying to fix up Detroit's economic issues. The city is currently in 300 million dollars of debt.
Through all his positions in life, Bing says there's one thing he's learned that's been the most beneficial.
“Teamwork is the most important thing I learned from sports,” Bing said.
More than 100 people were in attendance to hear him speak. Some notable guests were Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner and Chancellor Nancy Cantor.
