With the final vote for the 2016 Olympics host city on Friday, President Barack Obama leaves tonight for Copenhagen to make his final push for Chicago to receive the bid for the Summer Olympics.
Michelle Obama along with Oprah Winfrey have already spent a couple of days in Copenhagen pushing for the Windy City. Chicago remains the frontrunner over Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Madrid.
My Take: An Olympics in the US is a big story no matter where you’re from. It is also surprising how much criticism Obama has received as the first sitting-president to rally for an Olympic bid.

Broadway’s 2004 best musical, Avenue Q, closes out its final night in Syracuse. The controversial musical features puppets in New York City dealing with real-world issues such as homosexuality, racism, pornography, and dealing with life after college.
The show features such songs as “Everyone’s a little bit Racist,” “The Internet is for Porn,” and “What do you do with a B.A. in English.” This hilarious musical has received widespread acclaim as a “breakthrough musical of a very different stripe.”
Final performance tonight at 7:30 at the Crouse Hinds Theater.
My Take: As someone who does not like theatre usually, I felt this show deserved special recognition as a show that can be appreciated across the entire college demographic. I can also guarantee that anyone who sees this show will like it (You have my word).
With homecoming right around the corner, more and more alumni seem to be flocking to the hill this weekend. As Syracuse takes on South Florida in the dome on Saturday (noon kickoff), don’t be surprised if you see big names in the stands such as Don McPherson (Former QB), Bob Costas (NBC), Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon), Ted Koppel (Former ABC News anchor), Contessa Brewer (MSNBC), Pete Thamel (NY Times), and many more.
Koppel will interview Langella tonight at 8pm at Syracuse Stage, while Costas will engage in many events around campus.
My Take: The SU campus will care about this story since it’s not very often that notable alumni come to visit (let alone this many). With all the events on campus for students to interact with alumni, it is important to realize who will be here.
