Early this morning, FBI Agents and a SWAT team searched the home of the suspected shooter in what has been called the worst shooting ever at an American military base, according to CNN.com.
Major Nidal Malik Hasan is accused of opening fire at a military processing center in Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13 and wounding 30 others. 28 of those wounded are in stable condition this morning.
According to Leutenant General Robert Cone, Hasan was shot several times and taken into custody. He is now off life support but still in critical condition. Hasan had been a practicing psychologist at the Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood.
My Take: This is important to know because it’s the latest update on the biggest story in America right now. This is mind boggling that this could happen, and it’s extra intriguing because he is a psychologist.
Laid off Kilian Manufacturing employees have been granted additional unemployment benefits from the United States Department of Labor, according to Syracuse.com.
They have been granted these additional benefits because of the company’s increasing reliance on foreign products, which has caused Kilian to lay off approximatley 5 percent of their employees.
Kilian Manufacturing workers had filed a petition for these benefits on July 21st. The company makes bearings and assemblies.
My Take: How the job market in America is changing. These blue-collar factories that once dominated America are having difficulties staying afloat without relying more and more on foreign support. This is indicative of what is happening all over Syracuse, and America.
