According to the Syracuse Post-Standard, CENTRO will today nix at least two routes and cut down on other routes across the city. CENTRO's reduced schedules are a direct result of a reduced budget and the changes, according to Charley Hannagan have been contemplated since 2009. Most notably for Syracuse University students, the 72/172 route on East Colvin Street will be running less frequently. For additional information, patrons may seek the revamped schedules on CENTRO.org.
To put a cap on an eventful Vancouver Winter Olympics, Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby netted the game winner to send the host nation home with the gold. Crosby scored the game-winner just 7:40 into overtime, this, as ESPN points out, occured after the U.S. team miraculously tied the game with just over 24 seconds left in regulation. Ultimately, it was the host Canadians who had the last laugh as they left they earned the gold medal while the United States received the silver medal. The Winter Olympics wrapped up Sunday night, and will be on hiatus until Sachi in 2014.
A funeral will be held today in Chicago, Illinois for 40-year-old Dawn Brancheau, the women who was tragically killed in the whale attack at SeaWorld. CNN reports that the funeral will be held in a Chicago church, and additional services at the Orlando-based SeaWorld will be held in the future. Brancheau died tragically last Wednesday when a killer whale pulled her underwater by getting a hold of the trainer's ponytail. After closing the park, SeaWorld reopened on for service on Saturday.
