An East Syracuse police officer and two others were taken to hospitals following a three-car crash at Manlius Center Road and Basile Rowe, DeWitt police said.
The Post-Standard says that two SUVs and an East Syracuse police car were involved in the crash, which happened about 10:50 a.m., according to DeWitt police Sgt. John Anton. The East Syracuse Police have asked Dewitt police to investigate the crash, Anton said.
The East Syracuse officer was not immediately identified. He was driving a marked patrol car, and was in "normal patrol mode" without lights or a siren when the crash occurred, according to Anton.
Heading east on Manlius Center Road, the officer crashed into an SUV when the SUV, which was heading west on Manlius Center Road, took a left hand turn in front of the officer.
The crash turned the SUV onto its side, and it fell on top of the hood of a new Toyota RAV 4 that was waiting at the light on Basile Rowe, Anton said.
