Damon Wayans to perform comedy concert

Stand-up comedian and star of "My Wife and Kids," Damon Wayans, is coming to Syracuse University to perform for homecoming weekend

This year’s Orange Central events will include a comedy show performance by stand-up comedian and television star, Damon Wayans.

The homecoming weekend concert will take place Oct. 16 in the Goldstein Auditorium in the Schine Student Center. The event starts at 8 p.m., but Wayne will kick-off the night at 7 p.m. with a pre-comedy show.

Wayans is well known for his successful comedy show, “In Living Color,” the sitcom, “My Wife and Kids” and a string of movies including, “Major Payne” and “The Last Boy Scout.”

“Damon Wayans came highly recommended by the students and faculty that we surveyed by word of mouth at the end of last semester,” said Donald Saint-Germain, African-American studies and policy studies junior in charge of the event.

Phi Seta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and Omega Phi Beta Sorority Inc. teamed up with the Office of Student Activities to sponsor the comedy event.

“Past events at SU have always been a music concert,” Saint-Germain said. “Comedians do not often come (to SU) so we wanted to start a new tradition.”

Tickets are $10 with SU or ESF ID, and $15 for general admission. Tickets available through the Schine Box Office at 315-443-4517.
