'Cuse Takes on UConn for First Time Since 6-OT Game

Plus, a brawl at a youth basketball game suspends the league's season and the East Coast is once again hit hard by snow.

The Syracuse men's basketball team will play Connecticut tonight since their match led to the second-longest game in Division I history last March. The Orange won the Big East Tournament quarterfinal 127-117 in six overtimes. Syracuse's leading scorer, Jonny Flynn, gained national attention from the game and was the sixth pick in the NBA draft.

This season, the second-ranked Orange haven't lost a step without the point guard. They've gone 23-1 under the leadership of transfer student, Wes Johnson. The forward is leading the team with over 16 points and nearly nine rebounds a game. Connecticut, however, has struggled in the absence of Jim Calhoun. The Huskies started the season 11-6, but have split six games since their head coach went on doctor-ordered medical leave.

With a win, Syracuse will jump over fourth-ranked Villanova for the top spot in the Big East.

Brawl Suspends Season for Youth Basketball League

The Camillus Youth Basketball Association suspended the remainder of its season until further notice after a brawl at West Genesee Middle School Monday night. At the end of the third quarter, the benches cleared and adults and children came down from the stands, police said. Punches were thrown, and several people received minor injuries. About 30 people were involved in the scuffle.

More than 900 children are on association teams, and now must wait for a decision by the league to resume playing.

Snow Batters East Coast Once Again

A powerful snowstorm hit the East Coast Wednesday morning for the second time in less than a week. New York City is expected to see 12 to 15 inches of snow, National Weather Forecaster Brian Ciemnecki said. Several major airlines have already cancelled all or many of their Wednesday flights out of East Coast cities.
